About the Role
This role exists to build a slate of non-reactive, repeatable video formats for a large Gen Z audience, driving viewer engagement and loyalty beyond trending content. You will own the end-to-end development pipeline, set standards, make critical decisions on format progression, build and lead a team, and provide honest assessments of performance to leadership.
Responsibilities
- Own the development slate, tracking formats in development, piloting, scaling, paused, or discontinued.
- Identify promising formats based on existing content, trends, and audience data.
- Establish clear criteria for format progression, including cost, performance metrics, and definition of success.
- Maintain a live pipeline of formats to ensure consistent production.
- Shape initial ideas into shootable formats, defining key elements like hook, structure, and talent.
- Direct producers and development resources, providing guidance and sharpening their work.
- Determine when to develop formats internally versus delegating, while maintaining quality standards.
- Manage formats from greenlight to pilot production, coordinating with the Production Hub.
- Set shoot plans and pilot briefs, oversee pilot production, and ensure timely delivery.
- Balance speed and quality during the pilot stage to effectively prove format viability.
- Evaluate pilot performance based on views, retention, engagement, and repeat watch to make scaling decisions.
- Transition successful formats into ongoing production, optimizing based on pilot data.
- Develop comprehensive slate performance reports for leadership, highlighting strengths and weaknesses.
- Collaborate with the Production Hub to prioritize shoots across the entire slate.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on pipeline status, pilot results, and scaling decisions.
- Work with Brand Strategy and Productisation teams to prepare shows for commercial packaging.
- Set development standards for the team and onboard/direct additional producers as needed.
Requirements
- Track record of developing or producing short-form video for a social-first audience at scale, with demonstrable examples of built formats.
- Experience directing or mentoring other producers or developers.
- Strong editorial judgment with a clear perspective on compelling, repeatable, and scalable formats.
- Proficiency in short-form content performance on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, understanding platform-specific nuances.
- Ability to analyze performance data across multiple formats and make informed decisions.
- Experience working with shared or hub-based production resources and prioritizing them across competing formats.
