Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous, professional, and engaging customer service with a strong focus on the well-being and safety of all visitors.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the Canary Wharf Estate and provide routine information, advice, guidance, and directions.
  • React to situations calmly, make decisions under pressure, and take necessary action while ensuring the wellbeing and safety of everyone involved.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically in all situations.
  • Confidently use personal radio to communicate relevant information quickly and positively to the wider security team.
  • Demonstrate care and compassion when assisting, especially in situations requiring first aid.
  • Handle difficult situations, including safeguarding intoxicated or vulnerable individuals.
  • Be familiar with physical layout, tenant occupation, key personnel, building routines, and all security-related systems/equipment.
  • Carry out specific duties for designated areas such as patrolling, securing premises, fire checks/inspections, access control, and traffic management.
  • Follow procedures and instructions for the general safety, security, and upkeep of the Estate, focusing on loss prevention.
  • Manage and control vehicular traffic at access points to the Estate.
  • Comply with Security Department Instructions and Procedures, and maintain and implement emergency procedures, logs, and records.
  • Assist with the general good housekeeping of the Estate and ensure working areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Identify and take immediate remedial action in the event of a public safety hazard.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates a commitment to providing high-quality customer service, with a proven track record or recent experience in security.
  • Naturally inquisitive and alert, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Exhibits composure and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Confident communication skills with a strong interpersonal aptitude.
  • Displays courtesy, professionalism, and diplomacy when delivering customer service.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Possess proficient written and spoken English skills.
  • Willing to work indoors and outdoors, in diverse weather conditions, and able to complete shift work.
  • Able to assume responsibilities in the absence of the Security Supervisor or undertake other reasonable duties.
  • Provide a verifiable 5-year work history and account for any gaps in employment.
  • Maintains honesty and is free of criminal convictions (subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974).
  • All staff are required to fulfill their legal duty to take reasonable care for health and safety.
  • All staff members must understand and adopt the ESG strategy into their roles.
  • All staff are mandated to comply with system requirements as detailed within the Company Quality Manual & Policies.
  • Must ensure the effective implementation of all Procedures, Plans, and Forms within the Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
