About the Role
Wellcome is a global charitable foundation focused on improving health by funding science, leading policy, and building partnerships. This role is part of the Visitor Experience & Engagement team, responsible for delivering an outstanding visitor experience and ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective day-to-day operation of Wellcome Collection.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the safe, smooth, and consistent operation of the venue as Duty Manager and First Aider.
- Leading incident responses and supporting an inclusive and accessible visitor experience.
- Providing administrative, operational, and logistical support to the Visitor Experience and Engagement Management team.
- Welcoming and supporting visitors, providing information, handling feedback and complaints, and promoting an inclusive and accessible experience.
- Monitoring galleries, visitor flow, and exhibits, maintaining presentation standards, and reporting security, maintenance, or technical issues.
- Acting as Fire Marshal and First Aider, conducting dynamic risk assessments, supporting incident management, and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Leading day-to-day venue operations, including opening/closing, team briefings, events, crowd management, escalated visitor issues, and emergency responses.
- Managing staffing rotas and resource planning, supporting meetings and communications, maintaining records and systems, and providing box office and project support.
- Supporting and motivating front-of-house teams, coordinating training and development, managing operational risks and expenditure, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and organisational compliance.
Requirements
- Experience in a customer or visitor-focused environment with knowledge of operational logistics and delivery.
- Experience working in a visitor-facing role in a museum, gallery, library, or heritage environment.
- Experience of working in a large inter-disciplinary team.
- A high degree of computer and online literacy with knowledge of Windows/Microsoft applications.
- Ability to work some evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and regular late-night openings as part of a rota.
- Willingness to attend occasional out-of-hours meetings and training.
