About the Role
We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to maintain the global LooperBox fleet, which serves as the physical infrastructure for all data generated by Looper Insights. This hands-on role involves hardware, networking, and automation, with responsibilities including building, shipping, installing, and troubleshooting LooperBoxes worldwide. You will also manage a global VPN network, develop monitoring and automation for fleet scaling, and engage in R&D for device control, scraping methods, and cost efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Build, ship, and install new LooperBoxes connected to devices globally, including hands-on work in Byfleet and Hounslow data centres.
- Support and maintain the existing fleet, ensuring devices remain healthy and online during scaling.
- Conduct remote installation calls with customers for LooperBox setup and troubleshooting.
- Install, manage, and monitor VPN connections across over 28 countries.
- Build and configure physical networking equipment, including rack and cable management.
- Implement and enhance monitoring systems throughout the deployment process.
- Develop automation routines to decrease support load and accelerate results for internal teams.
- Research and prototype new methods for effective and reliable device control.
- Explore techniques for retrieving store-front information from remote devices and streaming video to LooperBoxes.
- Create proofs of concept for navigation and scraping methods to improve scan speed and quality.
- Investigate and prototype cost-saving measures for the fleet.
Requirements
- Proficient in at least one development or scripting language.
- Strong network troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable working in the Unix CLI.
- Experience troubleshooting physical device faults.
- Solid system administration experience.
- Experience with DevOps practices and automation.
- Able to travel regularly to Byfleet and Hounslow data centres for on-site work, with remote working for the remainder of the time.
