About the Role

The Talent Development Specialist will play a central role in succession planning for key positions and next-generation leaders. This position involves designing and operating the framework (foundation) that connects talent reviews, assessments, development, and placement/promotion, supporting management decisions in a reproducible manner. The role also leads the practice of talent management by defining the ideal workforce for the AI era, utilizing talent data, and applying AI to business processes to enhance decision-making quality and speed.

Responsibilities

  • Design and operation of succession planning (core area)
  • Definition of key positions and requirements for each position (leadership/competencies, etc.)
  • Design of talent review framework/sessions (meetings/processes) and facilitation, support for decision-making
  • Design and operation of assessment utilization policy (360-degree, various tools, etc.), support for interpretation and utilization of results
  • Formulation of guidelines for designing individual candidate development strategies/plans (IDP) and execution support (collaboration with supervisors/stakeholders)
  • Planning and promotion of next-generation leader development
  • Design and implementation of selection and development programs, executive coaching, tough assignments, etc.
  • Design and operation of mentoring/sponsorship mechanisms
  • Measurement of program effectiveness (KPI design, qualitative/quantitative review) and improvement
  • Design and advancement of talent management foundation (mechanisms, data, operations)
  • Policy for organizing talent data (skills/experience/performance/potential, etc.), design of data quality/input operations
  • Visualization of skills/career information, design of decision-making materials for strategic placement/promotion
  • Standardization of talent management systems/processes (e.g., review cycles, definitions, guides, templates)
  • Organization of utilization policy for HR systems/tools and operational design in collaboration with related teams (not limited to system operation personnel)
  • Stakeholder management/governance
  • Collaboration with management, organization leaders, HRBPs, etc., to lead issue identification and consensus building
  • Governance design and operation for handling highly confidential talent information
  • Participation in related OTD projects (main focus is talent management area)

Requirements

  • 3+ years of practical experience in talent management/organizational talent development in a business company or consulting firm
  • Experience in designing/operating succession planning or selection/development using talent reviews/assessments
  • Experience leading issue identification and consensus building through collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including management and organizational leaders
  • Experience in setting objectives based on qualitative/quantitative data, translating them into mechanisms (processes, guides, KPIs, etc.), and driving operational improvements
  • Ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information and promote work with governance in mind
  • Experience utilizing AI tools to improve work productivity/decision-making quality, or experience promoting such utilization

Skills

  • Japanese language proficiency (CEFR – C1)
  • English proficiency (CEFR – B2) preferred
  • Talent management foundation design/advancement (skill information organization, data design, review cycle standardization, HR system utilization, etc.)
  • Global work experience or experience in facilitating/building consensus in English meetings
  • Expertise in talent assessment/psychometric testing, competency design, coaching, etc.
  • Experience in promoting organizational problem-solving through collaboration with other HR domains such as HRBP
