About the Role
The Advanced Mission Planning Aid (AMPA) provides mission planning capabilities across a wide array of fixed-wing platforms, with a proven delivery record to both the UK MoD and international customers. The product comprises common and customer/aircraft-specific capabilities. Most development work involves incremental changes to mature software components.
Responsibilities
- Defining and overseeing the implementation of a technical solution aligned with approved change proposals, from requirements specification to customer acceptance.
- Producing the Project Engineering Plan detailing the implementation of the approved technical solution.
- Identifying technical issues and agreeing on necessary scope changes with the Design Authority and customer.
- Producing and maintaining the Product Backlog outlining the complete technical work scope for the project.
- Collaborating with Team Leads to ensure Backlog items are well-understood for Sprint inclusion, with clear scope, estimates, and acceptance criteria.
- Working with Operational SMEs to confirm Sprint Backlog item implementation aligns with approved scope and customer acceptance.
- Ensuring adherence to engineering policies defined in the QMS, as detailed in the Project Management and Project Engineering Plans.
- Ensuring sufficient verification and validation coverage for system qualification and presenting evidence to the Compliance Verification Engineer.
- Providing technical support to the Project Manager in external and internal meetings.
- Delivering accurate status reports to the Design Authority and Project Manager, clearly articulating issues and risks.
Requirements
- Experience in all aspects of the software lifecycle, including leadership.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment using Scrum and Kanban.
- Ability to define and elicit detailed system & software requirements and translate them into Use Cases.
- Ability to provide reasoned, detailed estimates with assessments of dependencies, assumptions, and risks.
- Experience with both functional and Object Oriented (OO) Design engineering.
- Ability to conduct design, code, and unit test inspections, reviews, and walkthroughs.
- UK MOD SC Security Clearance.
