About the Role

NSW Treasury is seeking new and recent graduates for a 12-month Associate Economist Career Launch Program. This program offers placements in various economic policy areas, training, mentorship, and opportunities to influence policy development. Participants will gain broad exposure to economic issues and career pathways in public policy.

Responsibilities

• Placements in two different areas within the Economic Strategy and Productivity Group.
• Participate in regular training sessions covering economics for public policy, problem solving, and career development.
• Engage regularly with mentors.
• Play a role in informing policy development and government decision-making.
• Develop professional networks and a well-rounded understanding of career pathways in public policy.

Requirements

• Completed or due to complete an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., economics, public policy, or a related field) by January 2027.
• Available to commence employment on February 1, 2027.
• Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia.
• Lived experience and ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with and understand issues impacting on First Nations peoples are highly valued.
• Provide a concise up-to-date resume detailing knowledge, skills, and experience.
• Provide your most recent academic transcript.
• Provide responses to several pre-screening questions.
• Do not include a separate cover letter.
