About the Role

This role provides exposure management and catastrophe risk analytical support to Exposure Management and Underwriting teams, delivering high-quality risk insights to support underwriting and portfolio management decisions. The role is responsible for collecting, assessing, analyzing, and reporting exposure management information.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and manage large, complex datasets using catastrophe and accumulation modeling tools to assess, quantify, and communicate catastrophe and accumulation risk across the portfolio.
  • Support the development and enhancement of data ingestion, transformation, and quality control processes to improve the efficiency and accuracy of catastrophe modeling workflows.
  • Interpret, synthesize, and present catastrophe model outputs to underwriting teams, including analysis of portfolio changes, model movements, and key risk drivers.
  • Operate catastrophe modeling platforms and interrogate exposure and results databases using SQL and other analytical tools.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Exposure Management practices through process optimization, automation, and the development of new analytical capabilities.
  • Support the design and implementation of operational workflows, controls, and governance processes for the APAC Exposure Management function.
  • Assist the Head of Exposure Management in building and developing a high-performing Exposure Management team to support future regional growth.
  • Develop innovative analytical solutions to help underwriting teams better understand, quantify, and manage catastrophe risk.
  • Assess and monitor exposures throughout the underwriting lifecycle, from data receipt and validation through to modeling, analysis, and reporting.
  • Support post-event analytics and loss estimation activities for both natural and non-natural catastrophe events.
  • Assist in the validation, benchmarking, and review of third-party catastrophe models and associated modeling assumptions.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple functions, geographies, and time zones to support the successful establishment and ongoing operation of the APAC Exposure Management capability.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in a catastrophe risk, exposure management, actuarial, or related analytical role.
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with the ability to take ownership, establish new processes, and contribute to the development of a growing function.
  • Strong analytical and data manipulation skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex datasets and modeling results.
  • Experience with catastrophe modeling platforms, preferably Moody's RMS solutions, including RiskLink, Risk Modeller, IRP, UWIQ and/or EIQ.
  • Experience with alternative catastrophe modeling platforms would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with APRA reporting requirements and catastrophe risk management frameworks is desirable.
  • Experience supporting catastrophe event response activities, hazard monitoring, and post-event reporting.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Python, R, Power BI, or similar analytical or programming tools would be beneficial.
