About the Role
This role involves supporting the 7-day operational needs of the unit by performing specimen collection, preparation, storage, and transportation. You will also assist with specialized procedures and undertake non-blood collection procedures, while demonstrating strong administrative capabilities and adhering to policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Work a rotating roster, including day, evening and night shifts.
- Apply extensive venepuncture skills and experience in specimen collection, preparation, storage and transportation.
- Assist with specialised procedures including venesection and Synacthen testing.
- Undertake non-blood collection procedures as required.
- Demonstrate strong administrative capability including accurate data entry and keyboard skills.
- Prioritise and work under pressure.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Adhere to policies, procedures and WH&S requirements.
- Deliver high-quality patient care and customer service.
Requirements
- At least 6 months’ experience in vacutainer blood collection.
- Strong knowledge and practical skills in venepuncture and relevant pathology procedures.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service.
- Maintain a professional appearance and patient-focused approach.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and autonomously.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Flexibility to work across a rotating 7-day roster.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety principles.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills in a healthcare setting.
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have an Australia visa that grants the necessary work rights.
