About the Role
Working as a Meat Associate at Walmart Canada is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-paced retail environment. In this role, you deliver outstanding customer service by living Walmart’s values, keeping the meat department clean, organized, and well-stocked, and supporting daily sales activities. As part of the team, you help create a fresh, inviting shopping experience for customers. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, teamwork, and making a positive impact on every customer visit.
Responsibilities
- Keeps the department clean, organized, and properly zoned to ensure it is customer-ready at all times.
- Rotates stock regularly and removes expired or unsellable products.
- Ensures all merchandise is correctly signed and priced.
- Follows established procedures for ordering, clearance, markups and markdowns, signing, flagging, pricing, and labeling.
- Adheres to food safety and cold chain standards, including temperature checks, thermometer calibration, proper food handling, product rotation, sell-by dates, and expiration date compliance.
- Takes customer orders and prepares deli items such as meat, cheese, and fried chicken.
- Uses slicers, stackers, rotisserie ovens, deep fryers, and other tools safely to prepare food, fill display cases, and complete special customer orders.
- Follows all Health and Safety guidelines and Company policies to maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic work environment.
- Be open to working a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
- Manages overnight hours effectively and planning accordingly to stay energized and focused.
- Effectively manages work hours and plans ahead to maintain energy and focus throughout the shift.
- Handles a fast-paced workload with efficiency, ensuring large volumes of restocking and recovery are completed accurately and on time.
- Performs physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting inventory, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 20 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Performs repetitive tasks such as stocking, zoning, and organizing products with attention to detail and consistency to uphold store standards.
