About the Role

TAR builds fully islanded solar and storage campuses that power AI data centers. As a Software Engineer, you will own the software for designing, simulating, and operating power campuses, including digital clones, geospatial data pipelines, design automation, and the energy management system. You will focus on one or two areas and influence the development of others. Your work will directly impact physical infrastructure deployed on a rapid timeline.

Responsibilities

  • Build high-fidelity simulations of entire campuses (PV, inverters, batteries, controls, data center load) to stress-test decisions and scenarios.
  • Collaborate with power systems engineers and consultants to translate their knowledge into software models.
  • Develop data pipelines to ingest and normalize site design inputs (LiDAR, DEM, geotech, soils, parcel, irradiance, environmental data) into a geospatial substrate.
  • Automate site design by transforming boundaries and constraints into buildable designs (grading, racking, DC topology, cable routing, equipment placement, BOMs, engineering deliverables).
  • Compress design cycles from months to days to evaluate numerous site variants.
  • Bring the energy management system in-house, focusing on real-time control, SCADA/telemetry integration, and testing infrastructure for campus operation.
  • Manage operational safety aspects of software controlling physical assets.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and a proven track record of shipping systems.
  • Fluency in Python and the judgment to identify performance-critical components.
  • Comfort in at least one of: numerical simulation, geospatial and GIS data, real-time or embedded control systems, or computational geometry and optimization.
  • Ability to collaborate with domain experts (power systems, civil engineers, project developers) and translate their knowledge into software.
  • Enjoy learning the underlying physics of the systems.
  • Bias toward first-principles reasoning and shipping code.
  • Software that is not in use is not finished.
