About the Role
The Senior Advisor leads policy initiatives for the electricity distribution sector, focusing on rate regulation, DER integration, resiliency, electrification, and economic growth. This involves developing policy options and recommendations through stakeholder engagement, research, and analysis, while providing subject matter expertise to executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead internal project teams to develop policy proposals for complex electricity sector issues.
- Lead stakeholder consultations and facilitate meetings to define issues, explore options, and seek consensus.
- Present policy proposals to OEB executive leadership for review and approval.
- Provide recommendations to senior management for effective decision-making and internal collaboration on complex issues.
- Retain and oversee consultants' research and analysis on key energy sector issues.
- Build and maintain relationships with energy stakeholders and other regulatory agencies.
- Present OEB policies and research findings to the broader energy sector.
- Develop and maintain expertise in relevant subject matter areas.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Commerce, Public Policy, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 7 years' progressive experience in policy development or relevant energy sector activity.
- Experience working within a regulated industry, regulatory body, and/or public utility is preferred.
- Knowledge of Ontario’s electricity sector is strongly preferred.
- Organizational skills to independently plan, prioritize, and organize work accurately.
- Diplomacy, interpersonal, and communication skills for constructive interactions.
- Judgment and decision-making skills to balance competing needs and provide solutions.
- Political acuity to recognize sensitive situations and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
