Responsibilities

  • Carries out maintenance activities on transportation infrastructure, including roadways, sidewalks, guide rail, drainage, etc.
  • Assists in erecting and maintaining traffic signs, pavement markings, and other traffic control devices
  • Assists in painting markings on roads
  • May be required to operate various spray painting equipment
  • Performs other related work as assigned

Requirements

  • Experience with municipal traffic control operations.
  • Experience in the operation and use of all vehicles, equipment, specialized attachments and materials related to the duties of this position, included but not limited to working on a ladder.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License.
  • Must qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be physically capable of performing required duties.
  • Ability to deal courteously with the public.
  • Must be able to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and work at various locations.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
