About the Role
CDM Smith is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to identify and control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety inspections. This role involves following up on corrective actions, overseeing health/safety activities, reporting and investigating accidents, and conducting work-area surveillance.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and controls hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety inspections.
- Follows up to ensure recommended corrective action is taken.
- Oversees and administers health/safety and first aid activities directly related to on-site Health and Safety, including work assignments, training, and safety orientation.
- Reports, investigates, and documents all accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions/activities.
- Identifies causes and develops corrective actions.
- Conducts work-area surveillance inspections, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage and personal injury investigations, and other safety monitoring and inspections as required.
- Reviews health and safety project documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted for project records per established procedures.
- Implements appropriate corrective action as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Accompanies health, safety, and insurance inspectors on walk-through tours of the project.
Requirements
- 3 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Skills
- Good understanding of all federal, state, local health and safety regulations and how to properly administer them.
- Good ability to recognize hazardous situations and assist in implementing corrective measures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Education Level
- Associate's degree.
- Certifications may be required depending on federal, state, local, or contract requirements.
Salary/Compensations
- USD $89,690.00
- USD $147,971.00
