About the Role
The U.S. Public Finance Commercial team at S&P Global Ratings manages client relationships and drives business development across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. The team partners with issuers, intermediaries, and senior market participants, valuing commercial focus, collaborative execution, and a deep understanding of public finance markets to help clients navigate complex capital markets and credit decisions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and grow revenue for assigned U.S. Public Finance clients across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region, developing and executing sales and relationship management strategies.
- Cultivate and maintain senior-level relationships with issuers, intermediaries, and market participants, serving as a credible client advisor and identifying upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leading the sales process from prospecting through closing.
- Conduct market research on public finance trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics, translating insights into practical sales strategies.
- Partner with analytical, marketing, sales support, and product teams to ensure coordinated client coverage and execution.
- Participate in industry events and conferences to represent S&P Global Ratings and strengthen market visibility.
- Monitor sales performance metrics, pipeline activity, and account plans, providing recommendations for long-term value and commercial execution.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in sales, relationship management, or business development within U.S. Public Finance, fixed income, capital markets, banking, credit, or a related financial services sector.
- Demonstrated track record of sales success, including revenue retention, pipeline development, and disciplined account management with U.S. Public Finance issuers, intermediaries, or related market participants.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as an escalation point for complex client matters and articulate market trends, client needs, and commercial opportunities clearly and persuasively to senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders across teams, geographies, and functions.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage competing priorities, client conversations, and internal stakeholder requirements with efficiency and sound commercial judgment.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the United States in support of client coverage and business development activities.
- Must attend at least one in-person interview at the nearest S&P Global Ratings office.
- Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
- Must have an indefinite right to work in the United States.

- $100,000 USD to $175,000 USD
