About the Role
In the role of Senior Product Designer, you’ll be instrumental in crafting seamless, accessible, and impactful digital/staff experiences for millions of Australians every day. You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business SMEs in an agile environment to deeply understand customer needs, translate insights into elegant, scalable solutions, and drive outcomes that deliver real customer and business value. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on design execution, and you’ll be a key voice in shaping the product and the broader customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery work to uncover customer problems, identify opportunities, and inform product strategy through research, workshops, and co-design.
- Translate insights into concepts, user flows, and prototypes through explorations and ideation to test hypotheses and validate assumptions.
- Create engaging wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UX/UI designs that maintain consistency with our design system.
- Apply systems thinking and design thinking techniques to shape an offering that must anticipate the needs of customers in a digital/physical service environment, and the staff that serve them.
- Collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders including Product Managers, Engineers, Content designers, Accessibility managers, and Legal/Risk throughout the agile lifecycle.
- Champion customer-centricity and advocate for best-in-class user experience at every stage of the product discovery and development process.
- Contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions by grounding decisions in customer insights, design thinking, user behaviour data and a “test and learn” mindset.
- Facilitate and participate in design critiques, workshops, and agile ceremonies, providing and receiving actionable feedback.
- Contribute to evolving our design system for consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
- Measure and validate impact post-launch, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative insights to iterate and improve solutions.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing digital/staff products end-to-end in cross-functional product teams.
- Proven ability to lead discovery and delivery activities with customers, product, and engineering stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of human-centred design methodologies and how to apply and execute them pragmatically in a fast-paced agile environment.
- Excellent interaction and UI design skills, with an eye for detail and craft.
- Experience designing for complex systems, services, or platforms, not just isolated features.
- Strong understanding of the principles and interaction models required to design responsible, and scalable AI powered experiences.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, balancing customer needs with business goals.
- Experience with metrics-driven product development (e.g., running experiments, A/B testing, usage funnels data).
- A portfolio that showcases end-to-end product design thinking, craft, and measurable impact.
- Experience working in Financial Service, or another industry that combines physical and digital services (Nice to Have).
- Passion for mentoring others and uplifting the broader design craft in the organisation (Nice to Have).
