About the Role
Join WSP's Sydney Building Services team as an Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead the delivery of significant transport infrastructure projects. This role offers a leadership opportunity within our national Property & Buildings business, focusing on major projects like metro stations, rail precincts, and airport facilities. You will empower multidisciplinary project leadership, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to business growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and delivery of major transport and infrastructure projects from concept through to construction.
- Provide technical leadership across HVAC, ventilation, smoke management and mechanical building services systems.
- Lead large multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to successful project outcomes across complex programs.
- Manage project scope, programme, quality, risk and commercial performance.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, contractors and key project stakeholders.
- Lead design reviews and provide technical governance to ensure quality, compliance and constructability.
- Mentor, coach and develop engineers across the Mechanical discipline and broader Building Services team.
- Support the growth of technical capability through knowledge sharing and professional development.
- Lead proposals, contribute to pursuits and support the securing of future project opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to deliver innovative, client-focused solutions that create better outcomes and value for clients.
Requirements
- Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
- Extensive experience within a Building Services consulting environment.
- Demonstrated success delivering major transport, infrastructure or complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong technical expertise across HVAC, ventilation and mechanical building services systems.
- Proven ability to lead large multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience managing project scope, programme, risk and commercial outcomes.
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder management capability.
- Experience leading proposals, pursuits and generating repeat business opportunities.
- A passion for mentoring and developing engineers and building high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of Australian Standards, NCC and relevant authority requirements.
- Chartered status, registration or eligibility for chartership will be highly regarded.
