About the Role

Expatrio is an ambitious Berlin-based start-up in Fintech and Edtech aiming to simplify the process for international students coming to and living in Germany. This role supports the Chief Legal Counsel in managing commercial contracts, compliance, and legal projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Legal Counsel with drafting, review, and management of commercial contracts.
• Assist in building and maintaining contract management processes, including DocuSign template automation.
• Support regulatory and compliance topics, including data protection (GDPR) and banking/insurance partnership requirements.
• Assist with corporate housekeeping and legal projects related to group integration.
• Serve as a point of contact for routine legal questions from internal teams.
• Liaise with external counsel and support active legal matters.

Requirements

• Completed First State Examination (Erstes Staatsexamen) or equivalent law degree.
• Consideration for Rechtsreferendariat Wahlstation.
• Proactive and curious with a desire to learn.
• Interest in fintech, payments, or financial regulation.
• Strong drafting and analytical skills.
• Ability to translate legal details into practical guidance.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Ideally, some working experience (law firm, in-house, internship).
• Ideally, familiarity with contract management tools like DocuSign.
