About the Role
The Innovation Portfolio Lead will manage and advance the Innovation Foundry’s portfolio of ideas, experiments, and emerging solutions. This role will establish the structure and discipline to move ideas from concept through validation, incubation, and to a clear decision point. Sitting at the intersection of business, technology, and innovation, the Portfolio Lead will collaborate with idea originators, Foundry teams, subject matter experts, and senior stakeholders to ensure strategic investment in high-potential opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Maintain visibility into the Foundry's initiative pipeline, including maturity, investment, dependencies, risks, and expected business value.
- Establish clear pathways for initiatives from intake and evaluation through experimentation, validation, incubation, and scale, ensuring defined outcomes and decision points.
- Assess opportunities based on strategic alignment, client or business value, feasibility, differentiation, and potential to scale in partnership with business and technology leaders.
- Define lightweight stage gates, success measures, investment criteria, and governance to enable rapid progression and deliberate investment decisions.
- Support employees with ideas by connecting them with necessary expertise, resources, sponsors, and partners.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience leading innovation portfolios, product portfolios, venture building, product strategy, or similar initiatives within a complex organization.
- Strong understanding of innovation and product lifecycle, from discovery and validation through experimentation, incubation, product development, and scale.
- Ability to evaluate competing opportunities, balance strategic value against feasibility and investment, and recommend actions (accelerate, pivot, pause, or stop).
- Experience defining hypotheses, success measures, investment requirements, expected business outcomes, and evidence for continued investment.
- Working knowledge of AI, data, digital products, fintech, and emerging technology trends, with the ability to engage credibly with technical and business teams.
- Ability to influence senior leaders, constructively challenge assumptions, synthesize complex information, and communicate clear recommendations and portfolio narratives.
- Ability to bring clarity and momentum to early-stage opportunities with undefined problems, solutions, ownership, or paths to value.
- Experience working across business, product, technology, and cross-functional teams to move initiatives from concept toward execution.
- Experience within financial services, capital markets, fintech, or another highly regulated industry (Nice-to-Have).
- Experience with AI, alternative data, data products, or technology-enabled business models (Nice-to-Have).
- Exposure to venture studios, accelerators, corporate innovation programs, product incubation, or internal venture building (Nice-to-Have).
- Experience developing commercialization strategies, go-to-market plans, or transitioning incubated products into scaled business or technology teams (Nice-to-Have).
- Experience working directly with founders, entrepreneurs, or employee-led innovation programs (Nice-to-Have).
