About the Role
The Business Credit Office (BCO) is a key component of the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Credit & Capital Management (CCM) operating model, acting as a partner for relationship managers and frontline bankers. This role involves leading and developing a high-performing BCO team, ensuring exemplary risk management, and overseeing credit and lending processes for specific sectors within US CIB. The position requires a strategic thinker and skilled stakeholder manager to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Leading and overseeing teams responsible for executing credit and lending servicing within the US market for Global Corporate Banking.
- Ensuring alignment with regional processes and a seamless, efficient process for customers, complying with US regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring and analyzing customer feedback to identify areas for improvement while aligning with regional priorities.
- Collaborating with local and global stakeholders (CCM, WCR, Legal, Sector Coverage, digital channels) to implement the wholesale credit and lending strategy.
- Supporting and driving governance frameworks for escalating and resolving credit and lending risks and issues.
- Monitoring financial and non-financial risks related to CCM production in partnership with local Non-Financial Risk (NFR)/Business Risk.
- Supporting the OKR, KPI, and SLA management framework, maintaining service management oversight for operational and control performance.
- Collaborating with internal teams (CCMS Product, Design, Innovation, technology, transformation) to execute the CCM technology strategy, reduce legacy technologies, and drive innovation.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with regulators, US credit review, and internal/external auditors, participating in audits and regulatory exams.
- Managing multiple senior stakeholders with varied agendas, navigating complex situations, and driving alignment.
- Supporting and driving the implementation of the BCO model in the US to be globally leading.
- Maintaining a diverse, innovation-driven credit and lending workforce, ensuring high engagement and satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience in credit and lending, with a strong background in managing loan portfolios.
- Experience with global corporates preferred, focusing on TMT, Industrials, Healthcare, or Consumer sectors.
- Proven track record of leading and managing teams, with experience in organizational design and strategic planning.
- Extensive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and drive alignment among senior leaders.
- Advanced financial acumen and credit assessment skills, including expert judgment in transaction structuring and assessing borrower creditworthiness.
- Broad knowledge of US regulatory frameworks impacting credit and lending.
- Expertise in credit risk management, control assessment, and Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX) compliance.
- Experience in driving digitization and customer experience improvement initiatives.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to discuss credit with clients, negotiate terms, and build rapport with external and internal stakeholders.
