About the Role

The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) is seeking to protect and promote Georgia's agriculture through superior service and leadership. The mission is to protect consumers, promote agriculture, and assist customers using education, technology, and a professional workforce. Responsibilities

Inspect and test the accuracy of small-capacity scales such as gold, produce, hardware, and meat scales, as well as up to 10,000 lb. platform scales used for weighing different products and commodities.
Enforce all applicable laws and regulations in the area of assignment.
Test weighing and measuring devices used commercially to ensure accuracy.
Investigate related consumer complaints.
Complete documentation of activities and prepare investigative summaries as needed.
Verify compliance of use, specifications, and technical requirements of weighing and measuring devices.
Maintain State vehicle and all equipment pertaining to the job.
Work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Requirements

Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Must have a clean driving record.
Occasional overnight travel is required.
