About the Role

As a Health Improvement Officer - Partnerships and Inequalities at the London Borough of Harrow, you will play a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing of residents. You will support the delivery of key public health priorities, helping to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes in areas such as substance misuse, tobacco control, and wider health improvement initiatives. This collaborative role involves building strong relationships with partners to address public health challenges and ensure services are responsive to the diverse population of Harrow.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of key public health priorities.
  • Reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes.
  • Develop strategies, needs assessments, action plans, and evaluations.
  • Contribute to evidence-based programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of partners.
  • Lead and support projects that bring partners together to address complex public health challenges.
  • Represent the Council within multi-agency partnerships.
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Drive initiatives that improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of leading complex projects or workstreams involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply public health principles, evidence, and data to develop effective solutions within statutory, governance, and policy frameworks.
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting complex information to support recommendations, service improvements, and decision-making.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt plans in response to changing circumstances while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality services and excellent customer care.
  • Ability to undertake desktop and face-to-face research to inform projects, strategies, and service development.
