About the Role

Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco seeks a Parts Advisor to assist technicians, manage parts inventory, and provide excellent customer service. This role is crucial for maintaining the high standards of a dealership with over 60 years of service in the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist technicians in selecting required parts efficiently and professionally.
  • Inform customers about companion parts, specials, and the full product line.
  • Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other necessary information.
  • Review body shop estimates to ensure correct parts ordering and accurate pricing.
  • Provide a high level of service to internal and external customers.
  • Pull and fill orders from stock.
  • Notify the parts manager of out-of-stock parts or materials needing immediate attention.
  • Locate out-of-stock parts from external sources and submit emergency orders if needed.
  • Inform the service advisor and customer when special-ordered parts have arrived.
  • Notify the body shop of parts arrival and delivery schedule.
  • Pull orders for delivery to the body shop, ensuring all parts are tagged with customer names and job numbers.
  • Follow up on back-ordered parts.
  • Verify will-call and back-order files weekly, returning unused items to vendors or stocking them.
  • Replenish assigned inventory daily.
  • Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
  • Ensure all internal parts requests are billed on service repair orders.
  • Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
  • Ensure all charge sales are signed by the customer.
  • Provide customers with their copy of the invoice.
  • Issue credit for returned parts, verifying purchase and pricing with original invoice details.
  • Issue and track shop tools requested by technicians.
  • Maintain orderly records of repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts.
  • Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
  • Solicit assigned accounts by phone.
  • Maintain clean and uncluttered front and rear counter areas.
  • Clean computer terminals and printers daily.
  • Participate in all available training programs.
  • Stay current on new products and product updates.
  • Participate with the parts manager in a lost sales tracking program.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Automotive Industry experience (preferred)
  • 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Intermediate user of Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Intermediate accounting knowledge
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to prioritize job duties to meet deadlines
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Acceptance by the dealership's Insurance Company as required
