About the Role
Stantec's California team is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner with permitting and technical expertise to join our Environmental Services Practice within the oil, gas, and energy sector. The role involves managing tasks and projects, leading technical document development, and coordinating environmental permitting for clients. The position also includes assisting with proposals and client/agency presentations.
Responsibilities
- Provide land use planning knowledge to support environmental review needs for public and private projects on utility programs.
- Manage and lead multi-disciplinary project/program teams.
- Manage environmental permitting efforts.
- Manage technical study support for siting and licensing of energy production and transmission projects.
- Provide environmental impact analysis support.
- Provide CEQA/NEPA support.
- Provide land use planning support.
- Coordinate and manage environmental projects.
- Contribute to emergency planning and response proposal and project delivery needs.
- Manage program or project schedules, deliverables, budgets, staff, and project records.
- Bring program/project schedules, budgets, and scopes of work to successful completion.
- Develop effective and efficient work-flow processes and program/project communication plans.
- Provide planning and permitting support for oil, gas, and energy projects.
- Support emergency planning and response services.
- Lead the preparation and review of technical documents such as due diligence studies, discretionary environmental permitting, State and federal acts, biological technical studies, and regulatory compliance services.
- Develop and mentor a team through coaching and training staff.
- Develop proposals (scope and budgets) for environmental services tasks.
- Interact and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and agencies.
- Travel across California to conduct project site visits, mentor staff, and/or attend meetings (up to 10-20% of the time, potentially overnight).
