About the Role
AMD is seeking a visionary and highly technical Director of Instinct Stack Architecture to lead architecture strategy, technical direction, and cross-functional execution across the AMD Instinct product portfolio. This leader will drive end-to-end architectural alignment across hardware, firmware, system software, security, reliability, serviceability, platform management, and infrastructure to enable next-generation AI and HPC solutions. This role leads a high-performing architecture organization responsible for defining scalable system architectures, driving technology strategy, and ensuring architectural consistency across multiple products, programs, domains, and engineering verticals.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive architecture strategy, governance, and technical execution for the AMD Instinct Stack across RAS, System Software, Security, Platform Management, Diagnostics, Telemetry, and future platform technologies, while leading a highly functional organization of architects and domain experts operating across multiple engineering verticals and product generations.
- Define and own the long-term architecture strategy and roadmap for AMD Instinct stack architecture across multiple domains.
- Drive architectural alignment across RAS, System Software, Security, Platform Management, Diagnostics, Telemetry, Manageability, Infrastructure, and future platform technologies.
- Establish architecture principles, standards, decision frameworks, and governance models across engineering organizations.
- Lead architecture reviews and technical decision-making for next-generation Instinct platforms and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure architecture consistency, scalability, performance, security, reliability, serviceability, and maintainability across the Instinct ecosystem.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of architects, technical leaders, and domain experts across multiple verticals.
- Establish clear ownership, accountability, operating mechanisms, and execution discipline across architecture domains.
- Partner with silicon architecture, system architecture, firmware, software, validation, product management, customer engineering, and executive leadership.
- Serve as a primary architecture interface for senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and strategic customers.
- Drive product roadmap influence, technology investment recommendations, risk management, and platform simplification.
- Champion innovation, design reuse, platform consistency, and scalable architectural approaches across AMD datacenter products.
Requirements
- Proven technical leader with strong system-level thinking, deep architecture experience, and the ability to lead highly functional teams across multiple verticals.
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment, influence senior stakeholders, and align cross-functional teams.
- Ability to translate long-term architecture vision into executable roadmaps.
- Passionate about developing technical leaders and building strong ownership models.
- Deep expertise in datacenter GPU, AI accelerator, HPC, large-scale system architecture, or platform architecture.
- Experience spanning hardware, firmware, system software, security, reliability, diagnostics, platform management, and customer enablement.
- Proven experience leading architecture teams supporting complex GPU, CPU, SoC, accelerator, or rack-scale platform programs.
- Demonstrated success influencing executives and senior technical leaders in a highly matrixed engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of RAS, telemetry, serviceability, manageability, resiliency, security, and system-level performance tradeoffs.
- Track record of building high-performing technical teams and developing future architecture leaders.
- Expert industry experience in systems architecture, platform architecture, software architecture, hardware/software co-design, or related fields.
- Prior experience of leading and managing senior technical teams, architects, or multi-domain engineering organizations.
- Strong track record of delivering complex products from concept through production.
- Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to executive leadership, senior technical forums, and external stakeholders.
