About the Role

This role offers a great opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and overall marketplace. The Publishing Assistant will be involved in a wide variety of activities that support Penguin Young Reader’s brands and business development efforts, including sales and marketplace analysis, metadata, product licensing, and administrative tasks. This role is a great opportunity for a driven problem solver and organized multitasker who enjoys tackling interesting and challenging tasks while supporting books for all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Run regular sales and competitive reports and share that information with various departments across the division, including sales, marketing, and editorial teams
  • Administrative support of publishing office and brand department which includes setting up and running (virtual) meetings, locating materials/jackets/etc., and supporting the division’s executive assistant as needed for in-office hospitality
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations and/or Excel grids for meetings including business reviews, conferences, and divisional meetings
  • Provides routine support in a variety of areas, including licensing, brand management, title metadata and description
  • Supports various divisional special projects and research requests, such as an editorial directory update or industry trend deep-dive
  • Process physical product samples from licensing partners
  • Assist with internal events such as author visits, guest speakers, and social events

Requirements

  • An interest in the business side of publishing and analysis
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility and interest in new challenges and adaptable to changing needs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
