About the Role

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, SpinCo, planned for Q1 2027. This role will support SpinCo, focusing on critical digital infrastructure and end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and mission-critical applications. The Principal Engineer, Advanced Power Engineering will lead the research, development, and technical roadmap for next-generation data center power solutions, enabling SpinCo’s integrated, productized data center strategy. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for defining and advancing power architectures across various systems and partnering with business units, manufacturing, supply chain, customers, and ecosystem partners.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the multi-generation power technology roadmap aligned to hyperscaler, leading silicon, grid-interface, and AI infrastructure requirements.
  • Lead applied R&D, architecture development, and prototype execution for advanced power subsystems, including power pods and skids, MV e-houses, advanced conversion systems, energy storage integration, sidecar architectures, and next-generation high-voltage DC reference designs.
  • Establish interface standards and integration requirements for power systems within SpinCo’s integrated data center platform.
  • Serve as SpinCo’s technical authority for advanced power in customer engagements, strategic partnerships, industry forums, and standards discussions.
  • Partner with Systems Architecture Engineering to ensure power systems are co-engineered with cooling, controls, IT infrastructure, and modular product designs.
  • Support technical due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, and supplier ecosystem decisions related to power and energy infrastructure.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing advanced power engineering bench across SpinCo, including close partnership with the cross-functional engineering teams responsible for specialized areas of the data center stack.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or related technical field; Master’s or PhD preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of engineering experience in power electronics, data center power, critical power infrastructure, utility-scale power, or power products manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated leadership in electrical, mechanical, and/or systems architecture engineering disciplines.
  • 5+ years leading technical teams, advanced engineering teams, or architecture programs.
  • Deep knowledge of AC/DC power architectures, MV/LV systems, power conversion, energy storage, grid interconnection, redundancy, reliability, and data center power delivery.
  • Experience translating future technology concepts into executable product requirements, prototypes, and manufacturable platforms.
  • Strong customer-facing technical leadership with hyperscale, colocation, AI infrastructure, or critical power customers.
  • Hands-on power architecture and design experience, with a personal portfolio of schematics, models, and prototypes you drove to working hardware.
