About the Role

Savvy is hiring its first dedicated infrastructure engineer to own and evolve the company's cloud platform, which runs on AWS, EKS, and OpenTofu. This role involves setting architectural direction, establishing standards for over 35 engineers, and enabling the development of AI and coding agent infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Set architecture and technical direction for our AWS and EKS footprint, including cluster topology, networking, IAM boundaries, and cost.
• Review existing infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and sequence remediation efforts.
• Define OpenTofu module structure, state management, deploy contract, and engineering patterns.
• Build out SLOs, meaningful alerting, incident response, and on-call practices.
• Manage production Postgres, Redis, and job processing, including upgrades, failover, and capacity.
• Develop tooling and internal services to simplify platform usage for product engineers.
• Assist in designing and operating the compute layer for coding agents and LLM workloads.
• Mentor engineers on the team to enhance their operational skills.

Requirements

• 3+ years of production Kubernetes ownership, including upgrades, control plane, networking, and incident management.
• Experience inheriting and improving existing infrastructure without disrupting business operations.
• Experience in small infrastructure teams (five or fewer) with significant consequences for mistakes.
• Proven ability to build software that engineers depend on, such as controllers, CLIs, or internal services.
• In-depth knowledge of Terraform or OpenTofu, including module design, state management, and drift handling.
• Experience managing stateful systems in production, specifically Postgres, including connection management, upgrades, and failover.
• Proficiency in CI/CD and observability practices, ensuring useful signal generation.
• Fluency with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) and opinions on infrastructure for LLM and agent workloads.
