About the Role
Lowercarbon Capital backs founders rebuilding modern world inputs, hardening global systems for climate change, and generating clean power. We are seeking an investor to identify top founders tackling significant challenges, understand their businesses, and assess their world-changing potential. This role involves direct engagement with founders, experts, and customers, rigorous evaluation of technology and business models, and developing clear investment perspectives. The position will evolve into a key internal advisor on industry trends and strategic investments.
Responsibilities
- Identify and network with founders building industry-defining companies in energy, critical minerals, manufacturing, and heavy industry.
- Conduct end-to-end due diligence, defining key questions, prioritizing risks, and gathering critical information.
- Engage deeply with founders on technical engineering and project financing.
- Develop and communicate investment theses through memos, market maps, and public content.
- Foster conversations with founders, operators, experts, and investors to strengthen credibility and attract opportunities.
- Deeply research and understand emerging thematic areas, identifying bottlenecks and scalability challenges.
Requirements
- Comfortable forming judgments with incomplete information.
- Ability to explain complex topics simply.
- Proficiency in operating in ambiguous environments with no single correct answer.
- Experience in the scale-up, deployment, or operations of physical world companies.
- Ability to learn quickly, seek additional information, and reason independently.
Skills
- Deep understanding of decarbonization technologies and markets.
- Familiarity with scaling new generation and storage technologies (nuclear, fusion, fission, renewables).
- Knowledge of distributed energy resources and energy-as-a-service models.
- Ability to work autonomously and creatively, proposing hypotheses and recommendations.
- Skill in tackling large, complex, and unconventional problems.
- Comfort with admitting knowledge gaps.
- Strong research capabilities, including identifying and engaging with experts.
- Clear written communication for internal and external audiences.
- Effective stakeholder management and communication.
- Meticulous attention to detail in all work products.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and switch focus effectively.
- Balancing rigorous technical diligence with honesty about uncertainty and optimism.
