About the Role
We are designing the grid of the future! EPE seeks a Power System Planning Product Owner to drive automation and software development efforts. This role requires an individual who thrives on solving hard problems and enjoys working at the intersection of power system studies, product development, and software development. The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between our consulting teams and software group, driving various software development and automation initiatives. You will combine technical understanding of power systems modeling and analysis or software development with product leadership to translate complex engineering workflows into practical and scalable software tools.
Responsibilities
- Own the product vision alongside product management and translate the product roadmap into well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team.
- Collaborate with software developers, data engineers, and consulting teams to design, prioritize, and deliver product features that create measurable impact.
- Participate in Agile processes including refinement, planning, reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring alignment between development outputs and engineering needs.
- Support product quality by defining acceptance criteria, participating in user acceptance testing (UAT), and validating the accuracy of technical data and calculations within the platform.
- Assist in creating product documentation, training materials, and conducting technical demonstrations for internal teams and external customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Science (CS) or commensurate experience in transmission planning.
- 5+ years of experience as a Power System Studies Engineer with a heavy focus on automating workflows, Software Developer or Technical Product Manager.
- Experience in steady-state interconnection or transmission planning studies.
- Experience in Software Development.
- Experience participating in sales enablement activities or delivering software demonstrations is a plus.
- Ability to clearly articulate technical product value to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable requirements for development teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proven experience working within an Agile/Scrum development framework, managing backlogs, and writing user stories.
- Experience with agile management tools (e.g., Jira).
