About the Role
Green Street is a leader in commercial real estate research, data, and analytics. We are seeking a skilled AVP, Accounting to join our finance team, offering world-class leadership and mentoring for professional development. This role is for an individual looking to make an immediate impact on a highly visible Finance team within a leading intelligence provider.
Responsibilities
- Lead entity accounting for all Green Street’s U.S. entities and group consolidation.
- Manage month-end close, improve internal processes, and provide business insights on revenues, expenses, balance sheet items, and KPIs.
- Review annual financial statements and footnote disclosures, preparing documentation for external auditors and coordinating audits.
- Lead tax accounting calculations, including tax provision and deferred taxes, assessing new developments, and working with tax consultants on annual returns.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex issues like revenue recognition, equity, and business combinations.
- Establish and maintain intercompany transactions and support organic growth into new locations.
- Participate in M&A transactions, leading accounting due diligence and post-merger integration.
- Lead system implementation projects to enhance team efficiency and interdepartmental cooperation.
- Manage a team of 3, reviewing their tasks and providing mentorship.
- Review monthly state sales tax filings and perform nexus analysis.
- Oversee banking operations and cash management, including cash forecasting.
- Shape and enforce the travel & entertainment policy.
- Establish and maintain internal controls, ensure adherence to accounting procedures, and research GAAP compliance.
- Manage NetSuite as an administrator, including access, controls, and structure creation.
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting and projects for management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- CPA required.
- At least 5 years of experience in all aspects of accounting.
- At least 2 years of experience with US taxes.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience, preferably with direct employee management.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to synthesize complex information, analyze, and provide recommendations.
- Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor delegated activities.
- Ability to work and manage remote employees and external service providers.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and develop realistic action plans.
- Ability to problem-solve and self-initiate processes with limited guidance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
