About the Role

The Salesforce Manager is JED's lead hands-on administrator for Salesforce, managing a team of Salesforce Administrators. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, configuration, and team leadership of JED's CRM environment, and plays a key role in shaping the strategy and roadmap for its evolution. The role collaborates with the Technical Project Manager to ensure efficient delivery of CRM-related requests and works across the organization, in partnership with the CTO, to align the CRM environment and integrations with organizational priorities and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day workload distribution, prioritization, and coverage for the Salesforce Administration team.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, set goals, and deliver performance feedback for direct reports.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex configuration, deployment, or data-integrity issues.
  • Partner with the CTO on hiring decisions and resource management for the Salesforce Administration team.
  • Customize and configure Salesforce, including creating and maintaining custom fields, workflows, and validation rules.
  • Ensure high levels of data integrity and system reliability through regular audits and monitoring.
  • Manage Salesforce updates and releases, evaluating new features and integrating third-party applications.
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards to provide key stakeholders with actionable data.
  • Own architecture and platform-strategy decisions for JED's Salesforce environment.
  • Lead the technical planning and execution of Salesforce configuration and deployment work.
  • Partner with the Technical Project Manager on prioritization calls and strategy alignment.
  • Stay current with emerging Salesforce capabilities and propose technical solutions.
  • Guide the design and delivery of user training programs and create clear documentation.
  • Provide timely and effective technical support to all staff, managing an internal ticketing system.
  • Act as a key technology partner to all departments, gathering feedback for system improvements.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Serve as the technical voice in cross-departmental discussions on architecture, roadmap, and platform capability.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be physically located in the United States and legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Candidates must be available to work during Eastern Standard Time (EST) core hours.

Skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Salesforce Administrator, with a strong preference for experience with the Non-Profit Success Pack (NPSP).
  • Deep proficiency in Salesforce, with demonstrated ability to handle customizations, configurations, integrations, and data analysis using reports and dashboards.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, or leading other administrators or technical staff.
  • Proven experience leading technical planning and execution on Salesforce projects.
  • Ability to make and communicate prioritization decisions across competing team workloads.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving technology landscape and a dynamic organizational environment.
  • A genuine passion for and alignment with JED's mission.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Preferred).
  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Certified Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder) (Preferred).
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM) (Preferred).
  • People management training or certification (e.g., a first-time manager program) (Preferred).
  • Direct experience working in a nonprofit organization (Preferred).
  • Experience integrating various technologies, including familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, and Gearset (Preferred).
  • Experience developing and delivering user training and creating support documentation (Preferred).
