About the Role
Activity Specialists will assist in the day-to-day functioning of the program, ensuring youth learn and build hard skills. This position is based on youth interest and requires maintaining a minimum of 15 youth in the group. The specialty component for this role is Dance.
Responsibilities
- Complete 15 hours of training within the first three months of hire and attend two mandatory agency-wide Professional Development trainings.
- Supervise all participants, particularly during special activities.
- Maintain classroom space in an organized and clean fashion.
- Maintain a daily log of all incidents/injuries.
- Assist with all aspects of programming, including following the organization's mission, supervising youth, and collaborating with staff.
- Perform administrative duties, including follow-up calls to parents.
- Attend all required department/agency meetings and/or training.
- Create lessons and curriculum around the specialty.
- Implement and facilitate projects and recreational activities for the school year or summer camp.
- Take initiative to assist program participants and group leaders.
- Maintain program supplies and ensure proper use of all.
- Help enforce all rules, regulations, and codes of conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; College Degree Preferred.
- Must have 3+ years of experience working in a specialized field.
- Must have experience working with and devising curricula around specialization.
- Previous experience with classroom instruction and/or facilitating lessons in specialized fields is ideal.
- Must be responsible, organized, and demonstrate positive communication skills.
- Must be personable, energetic, and enthusiastic.
- Must successfully complete NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening, New York State Clearance Review Background Check, 3 Reference Checks, and a Physical with an updated TB Test.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with all students, motivating them while setting a positive example in timeliness, attendance, and professionalism.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
