About the Role

We are hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Lead to establish and scale our manufacturing processes as our robotic turret product moves from engineering-built units toward repeatable production. This ground-floor role involves defining the manufacturing strategy, building early units, standing up the production process, driving design for manufacturability, qualifying suppliers, and laying the quality foundation. You will have the opportunity to grow into leading the manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define the manufacturing strategy, including make/buy analysis and roadmap for evolving splits with volume.
  • Build early units and document manufacturing instructions, travelers, fixtures, and process documentation.
  • Establish production processes including routings, assembly and test stations, tooling, fixtures, and material flow.
  • Drive design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) with engineering teams.
  • Qualify and manage suppliers, including machine shops, fabricators, and contract manufacturers.
  • Build quality practices for incoming inspection, in-process checks, end-of-line test, and nonconformance.
  • Own build data, BOM discipline, and manufacturing BOMs, revisions, and as-built records.
  • Plan and execute engineering builds, pilot runs, and low-rate initial production.
  • Understand and drive unit cost by modeling costs and identifying cost drivers.
  • Help define future manufacturing roles and organizational structure.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of manufacturing engineering/operations experience on shipped hardware products, ideally robotics or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience taking a product from prototype to production, including process building, make/buy decisions, and personal ownership.
  • Fluency in DFM/DFA, PFMEA, process capability, tolerance analysis, fixture and tooling design, work instructions, and line layout.
  • Practical quality system experience, including inspection, test, and corrective-action processes.
  • Supplier and contract-manufacturer management experience: sourcing, qualification, FAI, and partner management.
  • Comfortable being the sole manufacturing function initially, while designing scalable processes.
  • Efficient, low-ego, and collaborative work style.
