About the Role
The Business Credit Office (BCO) functions as a key component of the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Credit & Capital Management (CCM) operating model, acting as a partner and single point of engagement for relationship managers and frontline bankers. The BCO provides credit and credit risk expertise, execution to clients, and centralized credit oversight, working closely with credit risk and approval partners. This client-facing, customer service-oriented function involves structuring credit products, negotiating documentation, credit analysis, risk rating recommendations, and client credit monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee teams responsible for executing credit and lending servicing within the US market, focusing on the International Mid-Market business segment.
- Ensure alignment with regional processes and maintain a seamless, efficient process for customers, complying with US regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and analyze customer feedback to identify areas for improvement in customer outcomes, aligning with regional priorities.
- Collaborate with local and global stakeholders, including CCM, WCR, Legal, International Mid-Market Coverage teams, digital channels, and products to implement the wholesale credit and lending strategy.
- Support and drive the implementation of governance frameworks for escalating and resolving credit and lending journey risks and issues.
- Monitor the management of financial and non-financial risks pertaining to CCM production in partnership with local NFR/Business Risk.
- Support OKR, KPI, and SLA management frameworks, maintaining service management oversight for operational and control performance across CCM CTB & RTB services.
- Collaborate with internal teams across the credit journey, including CCMS Product, Design and Innovation, technology, and transformation teams to execute the CCM technology strategy.
- Reduce legacy technologies and drive innovation through automation, capability development, and business solutions leveraging next-gen technologies, AI, and analytics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulators, US credit review, internal and external auditors, and participate in audits and regulatory exams.
- Manage multiple senior stakeholders with varied agendas, navigating complex situations and driving alignment.
- Support and drive the implementation of the BCO model in the US to be globally leading, leveraging organizational design capabilities to optimize processes and structures.
- Maintain a diverse, innovation-driven credit and lending workforce, ensuring high levels of engagement and satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in credit and lending, with a strong background in managing loan portfolios.
- Experience with mid-market enterprise international companies preferred.
- Proven track record of leading and managing teams, with experience in organizational design and strategic planning.
- Extensive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and drive alignment among senior leaders.
- Advanced financial acumen and credit assessment skills, including ability to apply expert judgment in transaction structuring and assessing borrower creditworthiness, with experience focused on international mid-market companies.
- Broad knowledge of US regulatory frameworks impacting credit and lending.
- Expertise in credit risk management, control assessment, and SOX compliance.
- Experience in driving digitisation and customer experience improvement initiatives.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to consume large volumes of customer feedback and distil key areas of focus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively discuss credit with clients, negotiate terms, and build rapport with external and internal stakeholders.
