About the Role
The Site Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of The Home for Little Wanderers' Wediko NY programming at New Directions Secondary School (NDSS) in the Bronx. The Site Manager is on-site at the school 5 days a week and is responsible for provision of multi-tiered programming support and services. The ideal candidate will also be able to provide task supervision to on-site staff (4 employees).
Responsibilities
- Work with key stakeholders in the community to learn and understand the history of partnerships and the unmet needs.
- Maintain and support existing partnerships and develop new linkages to support LTW programming and ensure access to resources and supports students and families may need.
- Active participation in school wide meetings such as Attendance Meetings, School Social Committee and Partnership meetings.
- Provide task supervision to staff and interns on site.
- Support management of the LTW program at NDSS in collaboration with NDSS staff.
- Use available data to inform programming and interventions.
- Gather information on site-specific referrals in relevant areas (e.g. physical & mental health, advocacy, immigration, education, substance abuse, recreational).
- Prepare and provide workshops to both staff and parents/families on relevant topics throughout the year.
- Build bridges to integrate resource agencies into school community.
- Promote awareness of services and referral procedures to school staff in monthly faculty presentations.
- Problem-solving at the student, staff, family and school-wide level.
- Manage a small caseload and participate in student and/or family meetings.
- Provide outreach calls and milieu support during transitions, lunch time and arrival and dismissal.
- Oversight and management including some data entry of various management information systems.
Requirements
- 2 to 3 + years’ experience collaborating effectively with public schools and community-based organizations to improve the outcomes of at-risk students.
- 2 to 3 + years’ experience working within or managing LTW or other work-readiness/internship programs and/or other government-funded afterschool and enrichment programming
- Significant experience with assets and needs analysis, community organizing, problem-solving, networking and developing relationships with private and public partners, program management and improving access to resources for students, parents, school staff and community members, overseeing internships and workforce development initiatives
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Flexible schedule and willingness to work school hours as well as some weekends/evenings
