About the Role

The Job Coach is responsible for the daily execution of on- and off-campus activities with vocational students. This role requires knowledge of community areas, potential student triggers, Collaborative Problem Solving, CPI Non-Crisis Intervention, and neurobiological disorders. A good driving history and eligibility for the company's umbrella insurance policy are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Implement Life Skills & Career Development curriculum.
• Coach students as directed.
• Follow student IEP goals and ensure achievement by mastery date.
• Communicate with parents regularly about the Vocational program.
• Attend 1 team meeting per week and daily huddles.
• Attend a weekly supervision meeting with the Vocational Coordinator.
• Engage in professional development as requested.
• Collect data to track student progress.
• Ensure positive and supportive communication with students at all times.
• Assist in the implementation of off-campus activities related to the Vocational program.
• Assist in the coordination and management of Gersh Academy Vehicles.

Requirements

• Must have valid NY State Driver's License
• Must have CDL license
• Ability to drive up to 30 miles or more daily
• Must be able to keep students safe from themselves and others
• In some cases, may need to implement CPI (therapeutic holds) procedures
• Must be able to remove oneself from potentially harmful situations
• In some cases, be able to lift a child
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday
• Ability to lift (at least 50–65 pounds), assist, and/or physically support students
• Ability to physically intervene when required to ensure safety (per CPI training)
• Ability to remove oneself and/or others from unsafe situations quickly
• Ability to maintain attention and focus in a dynamic, high-stimulation environment
• Ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making, particularly in high-pressure or safety-sensitive situations
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain professional relationships
