About the Role

The Quality Inspector II is an experienced quality professional responsible for independently performing complex inspections, interpreting engineering specifications, supporting root cause investigations, and ensuring compliance with customer and company quality requirements. This role serves as a technical resource for production personnel and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced incoming, in-process, and final inspections of fabricated metal products and assemblies.
  • Generate balloon drawings and inspection sheets for new products using HighQA.
  • Perform and document First Article Inspections/PPAPs on new products.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment, including Calipers, Micrometers, Height gauges, Bore gauges, Thread gauges and CMM.
  • Program and set up CMM for use by Quality Inspector I.
  • Inspect weldments to applicable standards and customer specifications.
  • Review material certifications, inspection records, and quality documentation.
  • Lead containment activities for non-conforming product.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and coordinate the calibration of gauges, ensuring all calibrations are up to date.
  • Support customer audits, internal audits, and quality system requirements.
  • Train and mentor Quality Inspector I personnel.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve product quality and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associated Degree or Technical training in manufacturing, welding, machining, or quality preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of quality inspection experience in a fabrication, welding, machining, or manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ years of experience operating and programming CMMs (PCDMIS preferred).
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 quality systems preferred.
  • 0–3 years of manufacturing or quality inspection experience.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, machining, or welding environments preferred.
  • Proficient blueprint reading and specification skills.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication and welding processes.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production personnel.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and inspect parts throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
