About the Role
Partner with cross-functional teams to concept and create sustainable products that exceed customer expectations, managing the design process from market research to final styling for assigned product categories. Must be risk-taking and customer-curious.
Responsibilities
- Research global markets to identify new seasonal trends, silhouettes, fabrics, techniques, product categories, and competitive inspiration.
- Develop concepts and sketches for product lines and present design ideas to leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, Gap Inc Sourcing (GIS), Visual Merchandising, and Marketing to ensure seamless product execution.
- Influence product area strategy by recommending seasonal themes and line edits to meet business and customer needs.
- Partner with Production and Tech Design to create tech packs and communicate design vision, ensuring execution, quality, and margin targets.
- Build cross-functional partnerships and consensus, communicating desired fit and aesthetic.
- Responsible for fabric and trim selection.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to juggle multiple seasons simultaneously and track development deadlines.
- Possess an elevated sense of style, aesthetic, and color.
- Understand how to translate trends through the lens of the customer and brand filter.
- Thorough knowledge of silhouette, fit, fabrication, construction, color use, sewing techniques, and trim.
- Strong computer knowledge including Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to assess complex situations and analyze data to make judgments and recommend solutions.
