About the Role
STV is seeking a Structural Engineering Specialist to join our team servicing the Water Practice. Our engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national, and international projects, participating in the full project cycle from design through construction close-out. We are looking for innovative individuals who enjoy problem-solving, technical challenges, and collaboration in an environment where they are valued and can learn and grow.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
- Develop structural engineering plans, design, and layout.
- Provide drawings and/or sketches for designs to be incorporated in construction drawings by drafters.
- Research design options.
- Prepare load combination drawings and tables for structure manufacturers.
- Review shop drawings.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering design documents.
- Attend and participate in project meetings.
- Perform field activities such as observation of construction progress and existing field conditions.
- Effectively communicate project progress and issues to the design team and maintain communication with the team members throughout the course of the project.
- Manage and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Calculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, or other basic tasks.
- Support cost estimating with providing take-offs and getting quotes.
Requirements
- Limited travel and field work will be required.
- The selected candidate should be eligible for employment in the U.S., possess a valid driver's license, and be prepared to pass periodic drug screenings and a background check.
Skills
- Proficiency with finite element modeling software (STAAD.PRO, SAP2000 or RISA 3D), SPCOLUMN, LPILE, HILTI, Autodesk CIVIL 3D, and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with Autodesk REVIT is beneficial.

- Successful completion of the FE exam (EIT).
Salary/Compensations
- $75,656.68 - $86,464.77
