About the Role
As a Delivery Driver Non CDL, you will operate trucks safely and in compliance with all regulations, load and unload merchandise, ensure order accuracy, collect payments, resolve discrepancies, and provide sales leads. You will also perform daily truck inspections and complete required safety training.
Responsibilities
- Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
- Load the truck with Hajoca merchandise and secure the load properly.
- Ensure necessary equipment to safely unload merchandise is available.
- Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
- Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
- Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it.
- Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
- Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
- Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
- Load the truck at other locations with merchandise, including items picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
- Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered during deliveries.
- Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure.
- Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body.
- Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
- Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
- Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store keys in the approved location.
- Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Requirements
- Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
- Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
- Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
- Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
- Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
- Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
- Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
- Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
- Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
- Read, write, speak and understand English.
- Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Employment is contingent upon pre-employment drug screening, and successful completion of a criminal background investigation subject to any federal, state and local laws.
