About the Role
Marriott Syracuse Downtown seeks a Cook I to assist the Sous Chef and/or Executive Sous Chef in preparing food and supporting kitchen staff.
Responsibilities
- Inspects, selects and uses food items of the highest quality in the preparation of all menu items.
- Ensures food to order items for customers/guests are prepared in a timely and consistent manner.
- Prepares food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards.
- Prepares and cooks food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.
- Dates all food containers and rotates stock.
- Complies with attendance rules and is available to work on a regular basis.
- Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

- Maintains a professional appearance and manner at all times.
- Communicates well with guests.
- Willing to pitch-in and help co-workers.
- Adaptable to change in work area and hotel procedures.
- Willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones.
- Ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job.
- Asks for help whenever unsure how to do something.
- Understands and believes that every Crescent associate is a guest relations ambassador.
- Flexible availability required, must be available to work weekends.
- Fine dining experience preferred.
- Knife & light butchery skills preferred.
