About the Role

The Human Resources Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the operational and strategic human resources functions within a healthcare setting. This position ensures compliance with employment legislation, manages employee engagement and benefits programs, and supports workforce planning, claims management and employee relations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about fostering a positive and compliant workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain electronic employee HR files with all required documentation, including professional registration, performance reviews, supervisory reports, and continuing education.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including probation tracking, arrears and leave of absence reports, and processing change forms.
  • Coordinate or delegate employee engagement initiatives to promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with department managers to ensure appropriate employee scheduling for employment status (FT/PT/Casual).
  • Manage Workers Compensation claims documentation, including filing reports and follow-up activities; participate in developing modified work programs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of provincial legislation related to Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workplace Health and Safety, and Labour laws.
  • Assist in addressing and resolving violations of employment legislation.
  • Assist with employee discipline and counseling as requested.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Human Resources Certificate or Diploma program.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a healthcare or regulated environment with emphasis on employee engagement, performance management, and WSIB claims management.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a leadership, managerial, or supervisory position.
  • Proficiency in provincial legislation related to Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workplace Health and Safety, and Labour laws.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult situations objectively and consistently, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
