About the Role
Barbier Security Group (BSG) is seeking to hire part-time Security Officers for a church site in San Francisco's Mission District. The primary responsibility is to provide clear and courteous access control during services while maintaining a calm, welcoming, and professional environment. This position requires constant vigilance and the ability to stand for extended periods.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear and courteous access control during services.
- Maintain a calm, welcoming, and professional environment.
- Perform regular patrols of assigned areas, including multi-level buildings and outdoor spaces.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies or incidents.
- Use manual dexterity to operate security equipment such as radios, keys, and locks efficiently.
- Lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Utilize strong vision and hearing abilities to monitor surroundings and detect alarms.
- De-escalate stressful or potentially volatile situations with professionalism and patience.
- Maintain focus and remain alert throughout long shifts.
- Assist in evacuations or other emergency responses.
- Keep accurate and detailed activity logs, documenting all patrols and incidents.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for any incidents.
- Uphold a professional and positive demeanor at all times.
- Adhere to legal standards, company policies, and client-specific protocols.
- Maintain grooming and uniform standards consistently.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills when interacting with the public, clients, and team members.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Possess a current California Guard Card License.
- Must be current on OC and Handcuffing certifications.
- Taser certification preferred.
- A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are required for applicable sites.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
- Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports.
- Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion.
- Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and communicate effectively.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in adherence to all laws, regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
- Ensure compliance with both company and client policies and procedures.
- Possess a clear understanding of emergency response procedures and protocols.
- At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to stand and walk for long shifts, often for several hours at a time.
- Ability to climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols.
- Ability to handle and operate security equipment.
- Ability to sprint short distances if needed.
- Capable of working long hours while remaining alert and focused.
- Ability to kneel, crouch, and bend.
- Strong vision and hearing.
