About the Role
Smith Allergy & Asthma Specialists of CNY is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their growing specialty practice. This role offers an opportunity for a nurse who enjoys building patient relationships, teamwork, and hands-on care in a busy outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Administer allergy immunotherapy injections and monitor patients.
- Administer biologic medications and other physician-ordered injections.
- Monitor patients for allergic reactions and respond to emergencies.
- Perform and assist with pulmonary function testing and other allergy/asthma testing.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medication histories, and patient information.
- Room patients for provider exams.
- Assist providers during patient visits.
- Perform telephone triage and communicate patient concerns to providers.
- Process prescription refill requests and provider orders.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, injections, testing, and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Maintain exam rooms, nursing areas, medications, and clinical supplies.
- Follow infection-control, medication-safety, and emergency-response procedures.
- Collaborate with providers, nurses, and front-office staff to maintain efficient patient flow.
- Assist with additional clinical and administrative responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Current New York State LPN license in good standing.
- Current BLS certification preferred.
- Previous outpatient, primary care, allergy/asthma, or specialty-office experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills.
- Comfortable administering injections and medications.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy medical office.
- Dependable, professional, and team-oriented.
- Comfortable learning new clinical procedures and specialty-specific protocols.
