About the Role

Smith Allergy & Asthma Specialists of CNY is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their growing specialty practice. This role offers an opportunity for a nurse who enjoys building patient relationships, teamwork, and hands-on care in a busy outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Administer allergy immunotherapy injections and monitor patients.
  • Administer biologic medications and other physician-ordered injections.
  • Monitor patients for allergic reactions and respond to emergencies.
  • Perform and assist with pulmonary function testing and other allergy/asthma testing.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medication histories, and patient information.
  • Room patients for provider exams.
  • Assist providers during patient visits.
  • Perform telephone triage and communicate patient concerns to providers.
  • Process prescription refill requests and provider orders.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, injections, testing, and treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain exam rooms, nursing areas, medications, and clinical supplies.
  • Follow infection-control, medication-safety, and emergency-response procedures.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and front-office staff to maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Assist with additional clinical and administrative responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Current New York State LPN license in good standing.
  • Current BLS certification preferred.
  • Previous outpatient, primary care, allergy/asthma, or specialty-office experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and communication skills.
  • Comfortable administering injections and medications.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy medical office.
  • Dependable, professional, and team-oriented.
  • Comfortable learning new clinical procedures and specialty-specific protocols.
