About the Role

Provides clinical and clerical support to assure smooth daily department operations in assigned medical practice or practices. Assures that the patient and examination area is properly prepared.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patients from the waiting room to the clinical area, ensuring proper patient identification.
  • Performs clinical intake activities and documents appropriate information.
  • Transcribes and updates patient information, including demographic, medication history, social, and medical history.
  • Provides clerical and secretarial support, preparing patient charts and assisting with paperwork like disability forms.
  • Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation.
  • Ensures the examination area is clean and stocked after each patient use and performs environmental rounds.
  • Prepares patients for visits, ensuring gowns, paperwork, supplies, and educational materials are available.
  • Conducts in-office testing as directed by the clinician and coordinates ancillary services.
  • Collects, prepares, and processes specimens, logging results and reconciling them in patient records.
  • Contacts patients for follow-up, test results, or clinician instructions.
  • Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Communicates and documents electronic messages effectively.
  • Assists in the training of new staff.
  • Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office clinical procedures.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Maintains and models the Organization’s values.
  • Demonstrates regular, dependable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required in accordance with their scope of practice.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant OR MA or EMT certification OR 3 years of relevant MA experience including vitals, blood draws, and rooming.
  • Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
  • Data entry required.
  • Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
  • BLS Certification is required within 30 days.
  • Ability to travel between practices as needed.
