About the Role
Advance is seeking x 5 Volunteer Peer Mentors to support young women and girls in the Maia Service. This role involves enabling survivors of domestic abuse to escape harm, build confidence, and thrive. You will provide support through 1-2-1 advocacy and group-work, contributing to the organisation's mission of empowering women and girls.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1-2-1 advocacy and support to young women and girls.
- Deliver group-work and workshops.
- Participate in Volunteer Mentor meetings, supervision, and training.
- Contribute to the development and expansion of Advance’s programme of support.
- Provide feedback, evaluation, and participate in research and focus groups.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must have lived experience of domestic abuse and/or related challenges such as poor mental health, drug and alcohol use, financial difficulties, housing issues/homelessness, or exclusion from education or experience of the care system.
- Must be in a place in their own lives where they are not currently facing risk of harm or have ongoing support needs related to violence and abuse, current or alcohol use, or contact with the criminal justice system.
- Must commit to at least 6 months in the role.
- Must complete in-person & online Volunteer Mentor induction training.
- Must commit to 2-3 hours of mentoring per week.
- Must commit to 1-2 hours of Volunteer Mentor meetings, supervision and training per month.
- Must provide up-to-date CV and cover letter.

- Must pass references, confirmation of the right to work in the UK, and satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
