About the Role

Seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to work autonomously with occasional guidance. This role is skilled in Product and Process Problem Solving and focused on continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, and Innovation within a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. The engineer will support a highly automated, three-shift manufacturing operation and collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure product quality throughout the development, manufacturing, and field stages.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering solutions for Continuous Improvement in Safety, Uptime, and Quality.
  • Utilize data to identify process conditions and develop solutions.
  • Perform early issue identification, problem-solving, and corrective action tracking.
  • Summarize and evaluate reject and defect data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide statistical analysis of manufacturing process data.
  • Manage change to ensure no adverse effect on product quality.
  • Verify compliance with quality requirements and procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate information with internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop creative solutions.
  • Remain flexible and work extended hours as needed to ensure issue resolution.
  • Support corporate and local Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field(s).
  • Ability to understand and assess complex Engineering issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office Suite.

Skills

  • Quality knowledge
  • Ability to evaluate conformance to documented product and process specifications
  • Familiar with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Containment and understanding of customer satisfaction metrics
  • Problem Solving Certification/Lean Six Sigma Belt Certification
  • Understanding of ISO/IATF quality requirements
  • SQL/database knowledge
  • Ability to multi-task, support several projects and assign priority appropriately
  • Strong organizational skills – managing information from multiple locations and sources
  • Ability to work both independently and within teams
  • Familiar with Minitab or other statistical software (QDAS highly preferred!)
  • Knowledge of common problem-solving methodologies (Six-Sigma, RedX, Shainin, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA)
  • Entry-level understanding and proficiency in 3D CAD environments (Solidworks)
