About the Role
Seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to work autonomously with occasional guidance. This role is skilled in Product and Process Problem Solving and focused on continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, and Innovation within a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. The engineer will support a highly automated, three-shift manufacturing operation and collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure product quality throughout the development, manufacturing, and field stages.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering solutions for Continuous Improvement in Safety, Uptime, and Quality.
- Utilize data to identify process conditions and develop solutions.
- Perform early issue identification, problem-solving, and corrective action tracking.
- Summarize and evaluate reject and defect data to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide statistical analysis of manufacturing process data.
- Manage change to ensure no adverse effect on product quality.
- Verify compliance with quality requirements and procedures.
- Communicate and coordinate information with internal and external customers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop creative solutions.
- Remain flexible and work extended hours as needed to ensure issue resolution.
- Support corporate and local Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field(s).
- Ability to understand and assess complex Engineering issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office Suite.
Skills
- Quality knowledge
- Ability to evaluate conformance to documented product and process specifications
- Familiar with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Containment and understanding of customer satisfaction metrics
- Problem Solving Certification/Lean Six Sigma Belt Certification
- Understanding of ISO/IATF quality requirements
- SQL/database knowledge
- Ability to multi-task, support several projects and assign priority appropriately
- Strong organizational skills – managing information from multiple locations and sources
- Ability to work both independently and within teams
- Familiar with Minitab or other statistical software (QDAS highly preferred!)
- Knowledge of common problem-solving methodologies (Six-Sigma, RedX, Shainin, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA)
- Entry-level understanding and proficiency in 3D CAD environments (Solidworks)
