About the Role

This Duty Free Supervisor role involves assisting management in overseeing store operations, managing team members, and ensuring exceptional customer service within a fast-paced retail environment at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager and Operational Managers in managing team members and daily store operations.
• Provide an amazing customer service experience to customers.
• Provide flexibility to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
• Work a full-time schedule.
• Oversee multiple team members.
• Provide staff training and coaching to team members daily.
• Conduct store opening/closing/shift change procedures.
• Perform cash register preparation, float verifications, spot checks, end-of-shift cash reconciliation, void processing, and deposits.
• Ensure daily counts of items are conducted and discrepancies are reported.
• Ensure staff report to work on time and are dressed in clean, full uniform with nametags.
• Report all staff tardiness and absences to management.
• Ensure customers are greeted promptly and served by knowledgeable associates.
• Demonstrate effective management of customer queues.
• Assign daily duties to sales associates and inform them of daily sales targets and procedural changes.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of products and ensure replenishment and proper stock rotation.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
• Maintain theft and shoplifting awareness and enforce policies controlling internal shrink.

Requirements

• Ability to manage, consult, and help plan daily activities with General Manager, Operations Manager, and other Supervisors.
• 1 year of retail management experience.
• Experience working in a retail setting.
• Provides supervision and support to store staff.
• Works with on-site sales representatives.
• Approachable and interactive leadership qualities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good time-management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
