Responsibilities
- Receive service calls and diagnose equipment/system malfunctions.
- Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/system problems.
- Perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products.
- Follow troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical documentation.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittits, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding.
- Obtain customer signature upon completed service call.
- Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation.
- Help train or mentor others on the service team.
- Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Troubleshoot and repair installed systems, including panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, low voltage circuit troubles, and system testing.
- Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support.
- Possess excellent written/verbal communication and outstanding customer service skills.
- Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
- Experience with CCTV and IT and IP networks is a plus.
- Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation.
- On-call and after-hours work required on occasion.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- 3 plus years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
- Good working knowledge of computers.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
- Overnight travel may be required.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
- Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
- Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
- Retain any licenses required by National, State and Local codes.
